Premenstrual Syndrome

About PMS

About 1 -2 weeks prior to the onset of a period, women can have a syndrome called “Premenstrual Syndrome” which includes the following:

  • Moodiness
  • Breast tenderness
  • Food cravings
  • Headaches
  • Bloating
  • Weight gain
  • Lower abdominal or back pain

And some women experience a more severe form of PMS which is called “Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder” which means that the symptoms of PMS are so severe that it is now affecting a women’s interpersonal relationships.

All of these above symptoms occur 1 - 2 wks prior to the onset of a period and they resolve immediately when the period starts and this occurs every month for the at least 6 months.

Dr. Jen will discuss natural ways to alleviate the symptoms and if needed, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals may be prescribed as well.
